Booking a ferry
How do I book a ferry ticket?+
Search your route and date, pick a sailing, add your passenger and (if needed) vehicle details, then pay. Your e-ticket arrives by email straight after.
Can I search without knowing my exact ports?+
Yes. You can search by a departure country or an arrival country instead of a specific port, and pick the exact terminal once you see what sails. You can also search by where you want to arrive rather than where you leave from.
How far ahead should I book?+
For summer sailings and any crossing with a car, book several weeks ahead. Popular routes like the Greek islands, the Balearics and the Strait of Gibraltar fill up in July and August.
Can I book a return or a multi-stop trip?+
Yes. Choose Round Trip for an outbound and return, or Multiple to build a trip with several legs.
Can I take a car, bike or motorhome?+
Most routes carry vehicles. Add your vehicle during the search so the price and space are correct. Vehicle space is limited and books up first in high season.
Prices, payment and tickets
Is the price I see the final price?+
The fare shown comes live from the operator. Any service fee is shown before you pay, so there is nothing hidden at the last step.
What payment methods do you accept?+
Major debit and credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard and Maestro, through a secure checkout.
Is my payment secure?+
Yes. Card payments run through a PCI-compliant provider using 3D Secure. We do not store full card numbers.
How do I get my ticket?+
Your e-ticket and booking confirmation are emailed to you as soon as payment goes through. Bring it on your phone or printed to check-in.
I did not receive my confirmation email.+
Check your spam or junk folder first, then mark the message as not spam. If it still has not arrived, contact us with your name and travel date and we will resend it.
At the port and onboard
How early should I arrive for check-in?+
Times vary by operator and route. As a rule, arrive 60 to 90 minutes early for a car crossing and 30 to 45 minutes for a foot passenger. Your confirmation lists the check-in time for your sailing.
What do I need to bring to check-in?+
Your e-ticket or booking reference and a valid photo ID for every passenger. For international crossings you need a passport.
Do I need a passport?+
For any crossing between two countries, yes, carry a valid passport. Domestic island routes usually accept a national ID card, but check the rules for your route.
How much luggage can I bring?+
Foot passengers can normally bring a suitcase and hand luggage at no extra cost. Very large or excess items may carry a fee. Contact the operator if you are unsure.
Are pets allowed?+
Many routes carry pets, sometimes in a cabin, kennel or your vehicle depending on the operator. Rules differ by route, so check when you book.
Changes, cancellations and refunds
Can I change my booking?+
Where a route allows it, re-booking is possible up to 24 hours before departure. Non-amendable tickets are marked at checkout and cannot be changed.
Can I get a refund?+
Refunds depend on the operator and the timing. Where a refund is allowed, request it at least 48 hours before departure. Some fares are non-refundable, and that is shown before you pay.
What happens if the ferry is cancelled or delayed?+
If the operator cancels a sailing, you are entitled to a refund or a re-booking under their policy and the relevant passenger-rights rules. Contact us and we will help arrange it.
Routes and operators
Which countries and routes do you cover?+
We book crossings across more than 25 countries, from the Baltic, the UK and Ireland and the North Sea down to Spain, the Greek islands, Italy, the Strait of Gibraltar and North Africa. Browse them on the route map or the destinations page.
Who operates the ferries?+
The crossing is run by the carrier named on your ticket, such as Baleària, DFDS, Stena Line, Viking Line, Seajets, Fred. Olsen or Grimaldi Lines. We sell the ticket, they sail the route.
The operator name is different from Go Fast Ferry. Why?+
Go Fast Ferry is the booking service. The ferry itself is run by an independent operator, whose name appears on your ticket and at the port. If more than one carrier serves a route, all are listed.
